KAST's official referral explainer states that when a friend signs up using the referral link, the referral is tracked automatically. If they did not use the link, they can still enter the referral code during sign-up, or add it later in the app.
That second path matters. Most crypto card programs are strictly signup-only, so people who registered without a code assume they have lost the reward. On KAST the official wording leaves the later-entry route open. What is not flexible is the account itself: the Affiliate and Referral Program Terms, last updated 2026-05-08, require the referred person to be a new user who has not previously registered an account.

What the referrer and the new user each earn
KAST's standing referral structure pays the referrer on a spend ladder as the referred friend uses their card. The published figures are 20 US dollars at 100 US dollars of spend, then 30 at a further 500, 50 at a further 1,000, and 150 at a further 5,000 — capped at 250 US dollars per referred user, with no stated limit on how many people you refer.
Membership purchases stack on top: an extra 100 US dollars if the referred friend buys Premium, an extra 1,000 US dollars if they buy Private. The new-user side is described differently — membership discounts on a first purchase, quoted as 100 off Premium and 1,000 off Private, plus task bonuses the new user activates to earn cash on the same spend milestones.

The August-September 2026 campaign runs on different numbers
As of 2026-08-27 the KAST promotions page also lists a time-limited referral campaign running to 2026-09-30. Its structure is not the standing ladder: the campaign describes 20 US dollars for the referrer and 20 for the referred friend per qualified referral, plus a 50 US dollar bonus for each completed pair of two qualified friends.
Qualification is narrower than the standing program. Both people must complete identity verification before the campaign ends, the referred friend must register through a unique referral link during the campaign period, and the qualifying 100 US dollars of spend must fall in eligible Travel, Dining or Shopping categories, net of refunds. Rewards are processed in two windows rather than continuously.
The two clocks: 45 days and 14 days
Almost every complaint about missing KAST referral rewards comes down to one of two timers, and they run in sequence rather than together.
The first is the eligibility window. The program terms give the referred person a 45-day window starting from the date their identity verification is approved to generate qualifying spend. Spend after that window does not count toward the ladder, which is why a friend who verifies early and orders a physical card late can run out of runway before the card arrives.
The second is the redemption lock. Payouts are credited to the Cash Rewards balance once a milestone is met, but a 14-day time lock applies before those rewards become redeemable. A balance that shows but cannot be withdrawn is the expected behaviour during that period, not a fault.
Tier reality check before you chase the membership bonus
The largest referral numbers are attached to paid memberships, so it is worth stating what those memberships cost. On KAST's crypto cards page, confirmed on 2026-08-27, Standard is free with 1.5% cashback, Premium is 1,000 US dollars a year with 2% cashback plus 1% in KAST Points on all spend, and Private is 10,000 US dollars a year with 3% cashback plus 2% in Points. Cashback is subject to monthly caps by tier, listed on KAST's fees and conditions page.
Run that arithmetic before recommending Private to a friend for a 1,000 US dollar referral bonus. The friend is paying 10,000 US dollars a year for a 1 percentage point cashback uplift over Standard, which needs very large monthly spend to justify. KAST Points are a separate reward from USD cashback and are not cash — treat any token-related expectation as unconfirmed until KAST publishes final terms.

If the referral reward never shows up
Work through the causes in this order rather than contacting support first. Most cases resolve at step one or two.
- Attribution: confirm the friend actually registered through the link, or that the code was recorded on their account. A plain signup with no code attached cannot be retro-fitted after the account exists.
- New-user rule: the terms exclude anyone who previously registered a KAST account, including a closed or abandoned one.
- Window: check the friend's KYC approval date and count 45 days forward. Spend outside that window does not qualify.
- Eligible spend: refunds are netted off, and the current campaign restricts qualifying spend to travel, dining and shopping categories.
- Time lock: a credited but non-redeemable balance is normal for 14 days.
- Country: KAST states amounts and availability vary by country, and the terms exclude jurisdictions where access is restricted.
