US crypto reward cards compared: Coinbase, Gemini, Uphold and Fold

Start with card type and eligibility, not the highest crypto-back rate. A credit card, prepaid debit card and asset-funded debit card create different costs, approval steps and tax records.

US crypto reward cards comparison for Coinbase, Gemini, Uphold and Fold
Quick verdict

Gemini is the simplest category-reward credit card to model: 4% on qualifying gas, EV charging and transit up to $300 monthly spend, 3% dining, 2% groceries and 1% other qualifying purchases, with no annual or foreign transaction fee. Fold has a 1.5% uncapped base in bitcoin and can reach 4% only with payment and activity conditions. Coinbase One rewards scale with assets held at Coinbase and require Coinbase One membership. Coinbase Card and Uphold are debit choices, so the selected funding asset and conversion route matter.

Reward math on $1,000 monthly spend

If $300 is qualifying Gemini gas, EV charging or transit, $250 is dining, $250 is groceries and $200 is other qualifying spend, the stated category rates produce $12 + $7.50 + $5 + $2 = $26 in crypto rewards before interest or account charges. Spending more than $300 in the 4% category earns only 1% on that category's excess for the rest of the calendar month.

Fold's 1.5% base would produce $15 on $1,000 of qualifying spend. Reaching $40 requires all applicable 4% conditions and stays subject to the first-$2,000 monthly bonus window. Coinbase One's result ranges from $20 to $40 at the stated 2%-to-4% tiers, but the relevant Assets on Coinbase tier and membership cost must be included. Uphold Essential's 2% would produce $20 until its $120 reward cap, while Elite's practical value depends on whether the purchase is funded by crypto/metals or fiat/stablecoins and whether the introductory reward conditions are still active for the account.

KuCard is not ranked

The generic official KuCard URL checked on 2026-07-16 redirected to /kucard/home/eea. The readable terms reached from that route were not sufficient to verify the earlier assumption that this was an Australia product for this U.S.-intent comparison. Do not infer Australia or U.S. eligibility from an old page or search snippet. KuCard remains excluded until the official region-specific application and fee terms are consistently readable together.

Decision path

Choose by payment model

The card type determines which costs matter most.

1Pick credit or debit

Use credit only if approval, APR and full-balance repayment fit your plan.

2Model net rewards

Subtract membership, annual, conversion, FX and ATM costs from realistic rewards.

3Verify first statement

Match category, settled amount, crypto credit and every fee after a small purchase.

FAQ

Which US crypto reward card has no annual fee?

Gemini lists no annual fee, Fold Credit Card lists no annual fee, Coinbase Card has no monthly fee, and Uphold Essential has no annual fee. Coinbase One Card itself has no added annual card fee, but it requires an eligible annual Coinbase One membership. Interest, membership, conversion, late, returned-payment, ATM or other fees can still apply.

How does Gemini's 4% crypto reward work?

Qualifying gas, EV charging and transit purchases earn 4% on up to $300 of spend each calendar month, then 1% for that category for the rest of the month. Dining earns 3%, groceries 2%, and other qualifying purchases 1%.

What is the difference between Coinbase One Card and Coinbase Card?

Coinbase One Card is a credit card for eligible Coinbase One members, subject to credit approval, with 2% to 4% bitcoin back based on assets on Coinbase. Coinbase Card is a Pathward-issued Visa debit card that spends USD or converts selected crypto, with variable in-app reward offers and spread on crypto conversion.

Is KuCard included as a US crypto reward card?

No. The current generic official URL redirects to an EEA KuCard page, and the readable linked terms are not sufficient to verify the prior Australia assumption from that route. KuCard is excluded from the ranking until region-specific eligibility and terms are consistently readable.
